Ultra Fog water fog sprinkler system is based on water at high pressure being sprayed through special nozzles and creating water fog. A normal Ultra Fog sprinkler system consists of a pump unit and/or an accumulator unit that pressurizes the water in the system. The water is led to the section valves where it is divided to the different sections of nozzles. In the end of the piping the nozzles that create the water fog are mounted. Depending on activation method and application there are two different types of systems that can be combined in the same construction without any problems.

Conventional activation
The sprinkler system is pressurized with a pilot pressure that is created by a special pilot pump or a pressurized accumulator bottle. The pilot pressure is the same in the whole system all the way to the nozzles and the section valves are normally open. The nozzles are normally closed by a piston. In case of a fire, the heat will cause a glass bulb to burst, releasing the piston and opening the nozzle. Then there will be a flow in the system that is detected by the flow sensors. These sensors will then activate the system by starting the high pressure pumps or releasing the accumulator unit both creating a system pressure well over 100 bars. Only the nozzles activated by heat from the fire will be creating water fog when the system is activated.
This type of system is used to protect accommodation areas and other spaces where you don’t need manual activation or electronic detection, for example storage rooms.
Intelligent activation
The sprinkler system is pressurized with pilot pressure between the pump unit or accumulator unit and the section valves. The system contains no water between the section valves and the nozzles because the section valves are normally closed. The nozzles in this type of systems do not have a glass bulb and are therefore normally open. Activation of this type of system is done section by section manually or automatically by heat or smoke detectors. When the system is activated the section valve in the activated section is opened and the high pressure pumps are started or the accumulator unit is released both creating a system pressure over 100 bars. All nozzles in the activated section will generate water fog.
This type of system is used when protecting engine rooms and machinery spaces. It can also be used in other areas where you like to have manual activation or advanced heat, smoke or flame detection.
